Fight The Good Fight Of Faith

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV).

The only fight that the New Creation is expected to engage in is the 'good fight of faith.' It's therefore imperative for us to fully understand what faith is in order for us to effectively act on this unique instruction from God's Word.

Hebrews 11:1 (AMPC) defines faith as, "...the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]."

The preceding scripture describes Faith as an assurance, a confirmation, a title deed. This means that if you own a piece of land (for example), the assurance and proof confirming that the piece of land really belongs to you is the title deed. Likewise, being in Christ, we have faith and that faith is our title deed, confirmation of the wonderful realities which God has set before us to enjoy.

God has dealt with each one of us the measure of faith, meaning that every Christian ought to be having the Word working in and for them. The impending question is "Why then is this not the reality of every Christian?" We find the answer to this written in the book of Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV) and it reads, "For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; BUT THE WORD WHICH THEY HEARD DID NOT PROFIT THEM, NOT BEING MIXED WITH FAITH in those who heard it." Did you see that? The reason God's Word is not working for others is that they are not mixing it with Faith. From this, we can immediately deduce that the truth and reality of God's word can only be manifested and work in one's life when mixed with Faith.

Now you may be wondering, how then can one mix the word with faith?" Excellent question. Observe the writings of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)"...we walk by faith, not by sight. This means what you think, do or say is not dictated by your physical experience, instead, it's by what God's Word says about you. Take a scripture like 1 John 5:11 (for example), "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." After reading such a scripture, you might not feel a sensation of eternal life (the very life and nature of God) in your body. You might even experience something contrary to this scripture, but don't give in to that. Mix this scripture with faith. BELIEVE you have eternal life, CONFESS you have eternal life and CONDUCT YOURSELF as one who possesses eternal life. That's fighting the good fight of Faith!

Irrespective of what you may be going through, what you may be feeling or what you may be seeing in your life, family, finances, health or career; keep standing firm on what the Lord has said in His Word concerning your oneness with Him, your divine health, prosperity and dominion in Him. Refuse to observe lying vanities. Stand strong, firm and immovable on your confessions of faith. Let the word of God have final authority over your life and yours will surely be a life of unending testimonies, Glory to God!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the assurance and guarantee of your word in my life. I choose to go for your word voraciously, thus growing my faith stronger. I walk in the reality of your word today and always, in Jesus' name. Amen.
