CAN A CHRISTIAN BE POOR?

”For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.“ (2 Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭9‬ ‭KJV)

Our theme scripture says the Lord Jesus Christ has made us to be rich. This means, the mindset of a Christian should be that, “I can never be poor, for Christ has made rich”.

God has given you everything you require to get through life, ”…according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬). Everything you think you’d ever need for life, has been provided for you in abundance in Christ Jesus.

There’s something beautiful the bible lets us know of, “…in whom also we have obtained an inheritance…” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬). You have an inheritance in Christ Jesus. What then are you inheriting? Everything that belongs to God - the world and its riches - for you’re a child of God.

Understand this, there’s no poor Christian. The Christian is not the poor trying to be rich, rather, He’s the rich trying to grow up. What you need as a Christian is to grow up to be able to access your inheritance. Hence, your spiritual growth is of great necessity.

Spiritual growth comes through the Word of God, ”…as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:“ ‭‭(1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭KJV‬‬). God’s Word enables you to take a hold of what belongs to you. If there’s a deficiency of the word in your life, you’d find yourself wondering around, struggling in life because of the lack of knowledge of what’s been made available to you

Therefore, you can choose to live a struggle-free life and immerse yourself in the Word of God which delivers to you your inheritance, ”And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭32‬ ‭KJV‬‬).

Confession:

I walk in the fullness of the riches of God. I’m an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ. Everything that belongs to God belongs to me, the world and everything in it. Poverty has been completely dismantled in my life, for Christ has made me rich. Hallelujah.
